European Championship Football 2024
Group Stage
The UEFA European Championship 2024 will take place from June 14 to July 14, 2024, in Germany. This will be the 17th edition of the tournament, which has been held since 1960. Like in 2016, 24 UEFA national teams will compete in the finals. 20 teams qualified through the European Qualifiers, and three others via the play-off tournament of the UEFA Nations League 2022/23.
The 24 national men's teams will begin in the group stage, divided into six groups. The top 16 teams will then compete against each other in the knockout system, the final round.
From the Group Stage to the Knockout Stage
Groups A to F each consist of 4 national teams. After the group stage, the knockout phase follows. The top two teams from each preliminary group and the four best third-placed teams will qualify for this knockout stage.
The ranking of the third-placed teams is determined by the following criteria:
- Number of points from all group matches
- Goal difference from all group matches
- Number of goals scored in all group matches
- Greatest number of victories
- Lowest number of fair play points
- Ranking in the European Qualifiers
